SYRIZA Youth Supports FYROM In Use Of Name "Macedonia"

The youth of SYRIZA demonstrated in Skopje several years ago supporting FYROM in its use of the name "Macedonia". (greece-salonika 18/5/'08)

Do you think the Coalition of the Left SYRIZA and its leader Alexis Tsipras are working in favor of Greek interests? Think again! Its impressive to say that "we are against the memorandum" and fool people into thinking that you are working for their interests but its another thing siding with an opponent who has expansionist designs in the northern area of Greece.

SYRIZA has indeed scored points with the general public for its economic policy, but this is only because the elections of May 6 only focused on the economy and nothing else. It should be reminded that SYRIZA is in support of FYROM's right to use the name "Macedonia" something that goes against the wishes of millions of Greeks both in Greece and abroad.

Our political leaders would be wise to add a few national issues in their agendas. On foreign policy, aside from a small minority... the general opinion in Greece is one in the same. We say NO to the use of the name "Macedonia".

The Salonika blog that has been following this story since 2007 today dug out the above photo from its archives proving our opinion on SYRIZA's foreign policy.

Indeed the Memorandum has and needs to be renegotiated, but a nation is not only based on numbers and spreadsheets. It is built by people, and also needs to stand proud and tall. That is why we propose that more national and social issues be discussed by all the political parties wishing to take this poor country forward.
